Using the Master Plan for a Stronger, More Vibrant City

As our city looks to the future, the ongoing development of our comprehensive Master Plan is key to shaping a thriving, sustainable community. This ambitious blueprint encompasses several critical initiatives that will enhance the quality of life for residents, attract new businesses, and preserve the city’s unique character.

The Visioning M66 Project aims to revitalize the key corridors and improve connectivity between neighborhoods, businesses, and recreational areas. By enhancing the M66 corridor, we are positioning the city to become a rural hub that fosters both growth and livability.

The City Council Safety Committee’s collaboration with the MDOT’s Tap Grant initiative is another priority, working to create safer streets through better infrastructure, more lighting, and increased public safety programs. This initiative aligns closely with the development of Grand Central Park, which will serve as a central gathering space for residents and visitors alike. The park will be a hub for community activities and will offer a much-needed green space for relaxation and recreation.

For those who enjoy the water, the improvement of the city dock for boaters is a priority. By enhancing this access point, we not only improve the experience and safety for boaters but also attract tourism, boosting local businesses and the economy.

Additionally, Canal Street redevelopment is set to transform the area into a more pedestrian-friendly space, with improved parking, safer crossings, and enhanced aesthetics, all contributing to the city’s overall beautification.

Critical to the city’s long-term health, the plan also includes the replacement of lead water lines, ensuring safer drinking water for all residents.

The city is positioning itself as an attractive place for new businesses to thrive, creating jobs and driving economic growth. Together, these projects will build a stronger, more connected community for generations to come.
