UPDATES ON PROJECTS
Lake City is undergoing a transformative phase as several exciting projects align with the city’s master plan, enhancing both the community’s appeal and its infrastructure. Perhaps one of the most exciting components of the master plan is the Grand Central Park. This expansive park will feature a children’s play area, a band shell for community events, a historical walk to showcase the city’s rich history, and a fire pit for gathering.
The dock engineering plan is taking shape, addressing the wind & waves that affect mooring a boat in the dock area and additional slips. Visioning M66 corridor plan in continued collaboration with Networks NW, MSU and MEDC, from Jennings Road to the cemetery.
Curbing & parking improvements in collaboration with the County administration on Canal Street. This will improve traffic flow and provide more convenient access for visitors and residents. Main Street is seeing key considerations with the possible installation of bump-outs and other pedestrian safety measures designed to slow down vehicular traffic, especially trucks. These measures aim to make Main Street safer for pedestrians, encouraging foot traffic safer access to Miltner Park, tennis/pickleball courts and contributing to the area’s vibrant atmosphere.
A notable addition to the city’s future is the purchase of the diner, which will be repurposed for additional parking, freeing up space for growth. The potential for a new City Hall at this location further complements the city’s long-term vision for a more accessible and efficient civic center.
These projects embody the city’s commitment to safety, growth, and making Lake City a prime destination for tourists, while ensuring the well-being and quality of life for local residents. The projects are progressing in harmony, truly complimenting the vision set out in the master plan. To engage the community, the city will be placing potential renderings of a city hall, Grand Central Park, and the dock project for public viewing.
