Short-Term Residential Rental Properties Ordinance
The purpose of this Ordinance is to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare of the residents and guests of the City of Lake City. The City desires to provide adequate standards and enforcement of Short-Term Rentals which are congruent with IPMC regulations, and further essential to the general wellbeing of the community.
The City of Lake City may limit Short-Term Rentals to a maximum of fifteen rental properties in a residential or prescribed zone, and further each unit must have more than five hundred feet of separation, so not to inundate a particular area.
The adopted ordinance on Short-Term Rentals (STR) will establish a process, and further will ensure the maximum number of short-term rentals does not exceed fifteen residential properties, so those without a proven rental history may be denied initial application and will need to submit for the waiting list. Of particular concern, the unpermitted Short-Term Rentals are a public nuisance, and further the City will utilize all available legal remedies to enforce the ordinance, whereby Circuit Court injunction will be sought against the operation for noncompliance.
